Yarn Wrapped Wreath

You know how everything you see on the internet you make a plan to craft it someday?  Well, I have been intending to make a yarn wrapped wreath ever since I saw one on pinterest.  How long ago was that you ask?  Well let's not talk about that...so as fate would have it...my friend from church invited me to a ladies craft night.  We made...guess what...wait for it...you guessed it...yarn wrapped wreaths!

Most of the yarn and embellishments were traditional Christmas colors (I mean it IS Christmas time-lol), but then I spotted the PINK yarn.   YAY Pink! I hardly ever finish projects during craft classes or events because I get these ideas and the supplies I want to use are at home (heavy sigh).

Now the "I'll finish it when I get home" ideology can make for a pile of unfinished projects, but I told our hostess that I would finish the project and show her a picture. So I locked myself in my art studio and I made 3 types of felt flowers, free hand cut some leaves and made a "HOPE" banner.

Here is my Breast Cancer Awareness Wreath which I plan to gift to a friend.

Thanks Kushana aka Nya of Kingdom Kitchen N Krafts for giving me the chance to check off my "Pinterest to do" list. lol

Craft studio and office redo

Remember that song...them bones, them bones, them dry bones...now the foot bone connected to the ankle bone, the ankle bone connected to the leg bone...you know the one.  Well I am singing that tune:the craft room is moving to the guest room,  the guest room is moving to the office, the office is moving to the craft room...I am going bonkers!

I started this major rearrangement hoping that I could accommodate more than 8-12 students in my current craft studio.  I started by clearing out my guest room. This room is adjacent to the craft studio.  The thought is to move the major supplies from the studio and thereby be able to fit another table in the studio.  Also the office(currently a separate room) would be merged into the 'new' craft room.

My kitchen had just been renovated when a friend from the local YMCA offered to hang the old kitchen cabinets in my craft room.  Well that offer tuned into a custom built craft desk in my 'new' office/craft space.

So what started as a simple offer turned into a major project.  Thank you Rufus.  You are a real treasure.   Gosh, I hope that wasn't you running the other way when I came to the YMCA yesterday. lol

Now who is going to hang those cabinets? lol

Never Alone

There are several scriptures in the Christian bible that express how God will never leave us. I especially like Joshua 1:9 - "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest".  I kept singing the song "Never Alone."  That resulted in this mixed media canvas with the dimensional flowers and butterflies.  I think the sentiment says it all...we may be by ourselves, but with God we are never alone.

Watercolor

Playing around with generic brand watercolors
I made this.

My friend called and said she NEEDED some girlfriend time doing something creative.  I invited her to come over to my studio.  Here is what she came up with.  I told her next time she comes over I will pull out the better water colors for her lol. I really like her painting.  She also did some journaling expressing her feelings at the moment.  It was definitely time well spend bonding relaxing and creating.

Thanks for looking.

Teacup birthday card

Here is a birthday card.  I love the color and I found that paper in my scrap bin.  It seems like I am always using scraps.  I bet you are wondering if I ever use whole sheets of paper.  Well of course I do...that is how I get the scraps lol

Birthday Canvas

New blog location coming soon...
