Another Inspiration card

So this one it not at all like the example that I used for the other two (on the previous post), but I was still inspired by Julie's design.

Journaling: "A flower touches everyone's heart" Georgia O'keeffe.  The sunburst/flower is stamped with embossing ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I added stickles and strips of pp and cs at the bottom.  Lately, I have been using parts of stamps.  Only using the part of the stamp that says what I need or that fits.  Only the first line of the sentiment stamp would fit in this space so I taped off the 2nd line.  Worked pretty good.

Thursday

Sketch inspiration

It is rare that I uses sketches.  I was checking out this blog post and there was a sketch for a card.  It was very straight forward and would allow me to play with paint and doodling.  Check out the post and the sketch on Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's blog.

Here are the cards I created:
I painted  squares using acrylic paint and used inchies to stamp inside random squares.  I then outlined the squares with a black pen.  The word banner has glitter alphas.  The edges are inked with TH dusty concord distress ink.

The circles are a stamp from ditto/hampton arts.  I used watercolor crayon on the edges and random circles.  A stardust jelly roll pen by Sakura and a CTMH brown marker was used to make the doodles.  The 'smile' sentiment is stamped and punched out with a fiskars punch.  This was fun.

Wednesday

Friday night chat challenge #3

In between the challenges the hostess usually gives trivia questions.  This time the subject was Harriet Tubman.  The final challenge was related to Harriet Tubman.  We had 45 minutes to complete this challenge.  I had a bit of trouble with my photo printer, but I still only allowed myself about 45 minutes after I got the photos printed.  Challenge #3: Make a 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 layout using antique, distressed or vintage colors, some ribbon, a piece of news print (or antique-type writing; scribble) and a historical fact about Harriet Tubman.

I did not adhere to the requirements, but I just felt like doing some art journaling.  Actually, I was so frustrated after the printer woes...I just did my own thing.

Here is a social justice warrior then and now...

Materials: water color paper, gesso, acrylic paint, masking tape, stamp, rub ons, water color, glimmer screens, white opaque pen, colorbox chalk ink, black pen SU

Tuesday

The second 30 minute challenge

I actually won a little prize for this project.  Yay me!!  I like how the hostess did a play on words (flour-flower).  The second challenge: Make a recipe card with FLOUR as one of the ingredients using textured paper, bold colors and an altered flower. (You can paint, chalk or distress it).

Materials:
Scrap pp
corrugated colored card board
recipe card
ribbon from stash
fuzzy brad
paper clip (folded into a heart shape)
flower
glimmer mist

Monday

Another Friday night...

...spent home alone.  So, I played along in the Friday Night Chat Challenge on the SOC .ning site.  There is a challenge issued every 30 minutes.

The hostess was going with the 'flower' theme, since it is almost Spring.  The first challenge: Make a card using a 3-D flower, bling, ribbon or lace with a “Get Well” sentiment.

I realized that I didn't have any 'get well' stamps.  Hmmmm now to remedy that (LOL).

Materials:
cs
flower from swap
bling
glitter glue
ribbon from stash
inkssentials opaque pen

Paper bag mini album

Here is another one page album.  These are becoming addicting.

Here is the front cover.  The pp is like a doggie newspaper.

The inside has a pocket for mini tags and a photo mat.  The little dog is a cricut cut.
The back cover and tags.  There are lines for journaling on the back.

Materials
paper bag
ribbon from stash
bling
acrylic paint
glimmer mist

Paper Pups cricut cartridge

My Black is Beautiful Challenge #4

LIPS are the topic of next challenge. This poem is written using the slow journaling technique. The pattern of the paper just lent itself to this type of journaling.

Spoken Word by Tina Riley
My LIPS spit surreal sentences
Verbalizing virtuous verses
Speaking spectacular speeches
Formulating prophetic, philosophical phrases
Chanting charismatic comments
Telling tongue twisting truths
Casting out confusion with concepts so compelling it convicts crowds

"I will open my mouth in Parables..."  Matthew 13:35a

Anointed LIPS...
With sweetness like the honey comb
Filled with Love's language
and milk and honey under my tongue
Smooth like a scarlet silk sash
My LIPS are lovely...
Adapted from Song of Solomon

DARE I SAY...My LIPgloss be poppin'
erotic forehead kisses
cheek smooches
sensuous
comforting
healing
soft
sweet

LIPS SO LUSCIOUS
sweet like flower's nectar
the carrier of my souls laughter
lipstick's favorite canvas
ready to greet with a kiss of charity
