I made this card from supplies that were on a giveaway table.  This was fun.

Let's see: I had the card base cs in my scrap pile.  From the giveaway table: The pp was from a mini paper pack. The ribbon was from a little bag of fibers.   The other cs was all scraps and the tea pot was from a dimensional sticker pack.

My Black is Beautiful Challenge #5

I have some catching up to do with this challenge.  One of the goals with this challenge is to create lo's about myself, but I am so in the habbit of being behind the camera lol.   The subject matter here is 'eyes'.   The lo is a mosaic pattern.  I did this mosaic old school with a ruler and eyballing it (no pun intended)lol.

The journaling is an Acrostic poem (one of the characteristics of the poem is that it is shaped like a diamond): 

Eyes

mysterious beautiful

inviting twinkling dancing

revealing observing perceiving

I was going away for a crop retreat and at the last minute I decided to make a art journal travel kit. I have water color crayons, but water color pencils are more portable and less messy.  There were no art or scrap booking stores open.  So, I went to Wally World hoping to find water color pencils.  I have seen gesso and canvass before so I was hoping.  No luck in the art/scrap booking/stationery section, but to my surprise I found CRAYOLA water color pencils in the kid art section for $2.97.   I was not sure how these pencils would work since they were not artist or even student quality. 

When I got tired of scrap booking I played around with coloring.  I drew these two trees on watercolor paper and colored them with the pencils.  I used my water brush to spread the color.  While not super vibrant colors, the pencils worked just fine.  This was fun.

Jewelry making Pass-it-on party

This party was planned for a few teenage girls.  One day while visiting my old church a friend's daughter asked "Miss Teen Teen do you still do your parties?"  I replied, "... yes, in fact I have a crocheting party planned during spring break. "   Now most of these girls live in another town, so they had not been to a pass-it-on party since I had moved almost 4 years ago.  Instead of crocheting they wanted to make jewelry.  So, I put together a jewelry making pass-it-on party.

The sample project:

The girls made these toggle bracelets.  I totally miscalculated the time it would take these girls to catch on to this craft.  I am so used to working with younger children who take longer to learn a new skill.  Also this was a rather small party.  Luckily I had more supplies.  (and who ever said crafters had too much stuff and were borderline hoarders-lol)

They also made these memory wire bracelets...

...and they made these earrings.

Thank God for His grace...it was time for lunch after all that jewelry making. (LOL)

Loc band

Here is a loc band I made.  Having thick locs I needed a larger ponytail holder.  I justs used stuff I found in my stash to try this out.  Now to get matching rings and bead.

Hair Jewelry

Here is a flower made out of cowry shells.  It is hair jewelry that I saw on a YouTube video and wanted to make it.  I only had stretchy cord on hand and that one came out sorta wobbly (it's the one on the right).

Then I found some non-strechy cording-yay!  This one came out much better.
