Summertime and the Scrapping is Easy Day 9

The assignment: cluster, outlining and a song (title or lyrics) for the title.  I did the cluster and the outlining.  I used the merry and bright paper and all the ephemera is from my niece's graduation invitation.  Joy is the title of several songs.  I wasn't thinking of a particular song, just real happy and over joyed for my niece.

Sunday

Summertime and the Scrapping is Easy Day 8

The assignment was to make a layered flower and use bling.  There was a sketch and the pattern of the class is to use scraps from yesterday's lo to make a card.

Sentiment: Thanks for being Yourself

Summertime and the Scrapping is Easy Day 7

The techniques today were to use pattered paper, hidden journaling spot, stickers on photos, and tone on tone.  Well I did none of that! (LOL) I decided to scrapbook the pictures from my visit with my friend Ken to the Rice restaurant.  My bg paper is textured and spritzed, I did use pp in the center and I put stars on the pictures.  This is not the first nor will it be the last time that I did not follow the sketch, so no surprise there-lol.   I did not have a need for hidden journaling, but I did make a pocket to hold chopsticks and the receipt.  The pocket is made from the restaurant's take out menu.

Sentiment: Laughter is the shortest distance between two friends

Saturday

Summertime and the Scrapping is Easy Day 6

So the pattern for the class is to make a lo then the next day make a card with the scraps.  I used scraps to make the lo for day 3 and I used those same scraps for day 5.  While I do have itty bitty pieces left, I made this card with different scraps.

I was inspired to doodle this image when I received an e-mail with a picture of a greeting card.  It turned out to be an advertisement for Unity stamps.  I thought is was just a hand written image on a card, but it is actually a stamp.  I changed it up a bit.  This is a birthday card for my friend.  Doodling was fun, but I may NEED this stamp-lol.

Friday

Summertime and the Scrapping is Easy Day 5

The techniques today were to distress paper, cs or photo mats and to put a slit in the lo.  I chose to distress and ink the edges of my pp and distress the photos also.  I used the sketch for the day.  I also added a fire hydrant behind the slit in the cs and some more fire hydrant puffy stickers sporadically onto the page..

The title is spread out onto the three pics: eat...sleep...BE HAPPY
Journaling:if he can get plenty of good food and sleep then...Dugan is a happy camper!

Summertime and the Scrapping is Easy Day 4

The guideline was to use patterned paper and stitching.  Here is the card I made.

Sentiment:  If friends were flowers I'd pick you.  The color is hard to see, but the base is black and kraft and the flowers a made from brown pp.

Summertime and the Scrapping is Easy Day 3

Here is the lo for day 3.  I am working hard to learn to follow sketches that I did not draw.  I did not do my pre-class assignment and make 16 kits.  I need the creativity to flow in the moment.  Plus I always start a lo with scraps, so for example selecting 3 pattern papers and 2  cs and some embellies was not working for me.   I just keep using the pics that are on my desk.  Yes, I take a lot of pictures of my furry friend, Dugan,

The crux of the lesson was to use many different pattern papers.  I used all scraps to create this lo.  Journaling: DUGAN has a lot of nicknames.  He really responds to: The Baby Man Guy (of course when done in baby talk-lol)

Thursday

Summertime and the Scrapping is Easy Day 2

Here is a card I made using the same design from day 1 with the paper strips.  The teacher of the class, Tiare always uses her scraps from a lo to make a card.  Many times my lo is made from scraps so I may use 'different' scraps to make a card.

This is a standard A2 size greeting card.  I will use it to share a recipe.  I do not know how long I will be sharing this bit of information/disclaimer...but my camera bites! LOL  Beyond the blur the paper strips are decorated with the names of spices and cooking utensils. The banner says: I (heart) cooking.

The Boss of Applesauce

I played along in the Scraps Of Color Monthly Online Scrapbook Pajama Party for July..

This is a lo of my former boss from the housing coalition.  Ken is a great friend.  Sentiment: Ken, precious and few are friends like you.

Wednesday

Sleeping Beauty Layout

I inherited this picture that was most likely taken by my mom's co-workers.  I got this idea for scrapping a large photo from Pinterest.

Materials: pp, cs, flower from a swap, thickers, plastic pebbles(stamped on with studio G alphas),  hearts made from paper clips, tattered rose distress ink, stazon black ink, colorbox chalk ink

The journaling around the picture: My mom could fall asleep anytime and anywhere.  Hair curled, glasses on, mouth closed & we can't forget the lipstick.  Always the DIVA in her heart.  Rest on sweet, sweet mama.

Mom truly is a Sleeping Beauty.
